You meant more to me than I think I knew You went far from me as I went far from you Love got ripped down not what you hoped to find I knew that it my heart I just paid it no mind Oh I love you baby the way that things work out I got no idea what it's all about Oh I loved you both ya know that could be true Can we get past this part I promise I love you Radio's still playin' the song that makes ya cry You're still sittin' there with that look in your eye I wish I felt somethin' at least in part I'm still standin' still I got nothin' in my heart (Chorus) You say the bridge is gone to where we are now I say that don't matter much we're not there anyhow I hear ya telling' me I'm too inclined to preach Well then just forgive me and stay outta my reach Now I'm on the porch outside your backdoor Headin' home to NewYorkCity I can't take it anymore A dog is barkin' howlin' like a moan Night comes a fallen' I stand alone (Chorus)

Ruby's fading quickly into the night Jack can't do nothin' so he just might Stand around and watch 'nother night in these rooms Over by the sofa like a lonely bridegroom Ruby's got this smile men give her the eye Jack wants a whiskey as his throat runs dry Some man takes her hand happens with such ease Jack's by the river praying on a breeze Down at Miss Martha's House Oh my name is Jack I'm there most every night With my heart turning' black Ruby comes back in it's been an hour or more Jack whispers, "Oh Ruby how come you do this for?" Ruby calls over, "Hey Jack don't look so mean!" Jack mumbles, "I'm no Jesus you're no Magdalene ..." (Chorus) Out on the street Jack follows the guy He don't see what he thought he'd see when he looks in his eye Deep in his pocket Jack feels his knife He just can't do it spare another life No not tonight (Chorus)

Standin' by your grave Long past midnight Days after your hanging There's some pale moonlight Standin' with these shadows Castin' one of my own Our child inside of me You see I am not alone Past the hills outside of town Past the remains of the clouds You told me I best get ridin' I don't know how You're naked beside me Like when you were always there The smell a dirt surrounds me Hanging in the humid air I'm standing here I'm unafraid Neath this weeping tree I broke the cross meant to mark Our untwining destiny Past the hills outside of town Past the remains of the clouds You told me I best get ridin' I don't know how Losing you is gonna break me Oh don't let me start Nothin' here can shake me I just can't find my heart Oh I don't wanna go Best be on my way It's the same sunrise No it's the start of a new day Past the hills outside of town Past the remains of the clouds I find myself I'm ridin' I'll figure it out somehow

Home 03:19
I came to the place Where the Lone Pilgrim lay Pensively stood by his tomb In a low whisper I heard a voice say How sweetly I sleep here alone The tempest may howl Loud thunder roar Gathering storms may arise Calm is my feeling a At rest is my soul Tears are all gone from my eyes Home Home Home The call of my master Compelled me from home No kindred nor relative nigh I met the contagion Sank to this tomb My soul flew to mansions on high Home Home Home Tell my sweet wife Children most dear Don't weep for me 'cause I'm gone The same hand that led me Though storms most severe Has kindly now walked me on home Home Home Home Home Home

Down in the trenches he followed their command. All the days the same out in No Man's Land. So many kinds a bad hard to be good. Drive a man mad I tell ya it could. Got up every morning, hours to go, Things happened without warnin' he just could never no. Look at Sergeant Joe Outside that Empire Hotel How ya doin' fellow I'm doin' well You're dancing' for him mister he don't know who to believe. He's seen too much sir could ya make it plain please. Ya rob a man's dignity yeah you can drive him down. In time he'll rise up it'll come back around. He's seen so many dead ain't no more or less. Just give him some room for the pursuit of happiness. Look at Sergeant Joe Outside that Empire Hotel How ya doin' fellow I'm doin' well What are ya gonna do? What are ya gonna do? In up to your ass. You think that's true Get goin' everyday. Ya always got the blues Ya got to be on your way. But what would Jesus do? I heard some folks saying, "He don't deserve a home." Comin' out of a restaurant in a world all their own. He needs something done can't go down to the banker's door Same folks always give. It seems like the poor. Blood on bread they'll give you yeah anything you need. They give it all and get left to bleed. Look at Sergeant Joe Outside that Empire Hotel How ya doin' fellow I'm doin' well Look at Sergeant Joe Outside that Empire Hotel How ya doin' fellow I'm doin' well Look at Sergeant Joe Outside that Empire Hotel How ya doin' fellow I'm doin' well Look at Sergeant Joe Outside that Empire Hotel

Round&Round 06:13
Papa sailed across the water Comin' to a Promised Land I come up on it's street corners Tryin' to get money in my hands Hard by the banks of the Hudson Swear to Christ she was waitin' just for me Took my hand, said, "Come my sweet, There's lots to do and more to see." Oh yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah Oh yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah I love the air in the mountains And breezes down by the sea That full moon when she's risin' Sure does look beautiful to me I been down to East Texas Gone all through out the west Still her sweet lips Spoke to me the best Now all our nights were busy Stayed abed most days till three I awoke alone that last time She musta had somethin' to do without me Oh yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah Oh yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah I love the air in the mountains And breezes down by the sea That full moon when she's risin' Sure does look beautiful to me I looked all through Utah Worked here to New Orleans from the west Still her sweet lips Spoke to me the best Ya go round&round&round Ya stand up they say, "Hey! Sit down!" Round&round&round&round my friend Round&round back again She went on to London Headed home to ol' Paris Yeah, yeah, she just kept on runnin' I can see her fall to her knees Oh yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah I love the air in the mountains And breezes down by the sea That full moon when she's risin' Sure does look beautiful to me I could walk east across the waters And come back round from the west Still her sweet lips Spoke to me the best Oh yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

Bullet took my boy's blood Gun in some fool's hand Though that's plainly true It's not where the trouble began Somewhere in the past There's a stand on this land Passed on year to year Passed down hand to hand It's still goin' on Get this circle done Lies are told Don't be afraid my son Some fool got told a lie They'll take your land away Sees my people like poison The sun setting' on his day "Look out for yourself," The Smiling Sheriff did say Made for a damn short walk To takin' my son's life away It's still goin' on Get this circle done Lies are told Don't be afraid my son Someone is lyin' Someone else gettin' used Someone is lyin' Someone else gets abused Locked up in his shack Nightmares from the first That fool don't see his real foe I tell ya that's far from the worst Bullet took my boys blood Gun in some fool's hand Though that's plainly true It's not where the trouble began It's still goin' on Get this circle done Lies are told Don't be afraid my son (Everybody) Don't be afraid my son (Out loud) Don't be afraid my son (To heaven) Don't be afraid my son (Again) Don't be afraid my son Don't be afraid my son

When you reach out your hand Hold mine in yours When you kiss my lips It's like as if I took some cure Like ol' Marie LeVeau Up in Shakespeare's hall You witch me I float I got no fear to fall Your beauty yeah it breaks me Your mystery yeah it takes me Your secret heart oh it makes me so scared All the love that waits there Then again oh I know There's not a thing to lose There'd never be anything you'd do That would abuse Your beauty yeah it breaks me Your mystery yeah it takes me Your secret heart oh it makes me so scared All the love that waits there Sleep well when you get to sleepin' Light of a split moon spills through Throwin' white light across Your body, your face, our room ... Lovin' you hear in Memphis Oh love I've longed for that Let's start it up slowly Then we'll burn the world down flat I won't be so blind not to ask you To sing a song with me I won't say, "Go sing with him" I'm not the kind of fool a man can be Your beauty yeah it breaks me Your mystery yeah it takes me Your secret heart oh it makes me so scared All the love that waits there

about

All of these songs rose up outta my HudsonRiverAnthology. Songs of Love&Loss, Murder&Mayhem, Rising&Redemption. All of these songs are from deep outta the alternative American history of the Invisible Republic. As so vividly laid out by Griel Marcus back in the misty history of days of yore. All of these songs are built on Punk-Americana. It's what some girl who handed me a rose once called this sound. That was easier for me to take then when some gentleman had said that it was like JohnnyCash meets TheClash. I was honored but my respect for the paths these icons forged is too great for me to reap the harvest of those fields. I was lookin.' Searching like Dylan did for his "wild Mercury sound" of the mid-60's. So we headed back to the FieldsOfAbraham and got back to sowing&reaping ...

Much much thanks to John Fuentes who helps me sound the bell for this call to prayer. Walter Ego steady rock like Jesus' Peter. Carson Alexander who wrote so many characters with his steady hands that gave the people of these songs someone with whom they could walk. And his voice. Jac Grady, siren who could lure me to any shore. Cody Neeb who walked the walk and talked the talk with me in the earliest days when I could only stumble and mumble my way outta grief. So happy to have him back in the tent. Those are the immediate KiddTwist folks. But it's more of a community. More of an OpenCircle and it includes: Miwa Cogez for making me cry with her violin. Brian Mitchell for sharing the sadness&triumph of his SqueezeBox with all of us on the day after his daddy had passed ... And Hugh Pool, I don't know what to say, ... Only this; if you ever wanna make a record follow the signs to Excello, carry your torch to Greenpoint, BK ... And a special thanks to Phillip Klum Mastering who took all these people the final steps. ... Thank you too. For listening and sharing the work these Sisters&Brother-In-Art made for all the Sisters&Brothers-In-Art ... There. It's said ...

This album was released on 7 December 2019. Forty years ago LONDON CALLING by The Clash was released in the United Kingdom on 14 December.

And of course ... Play It Loud ...
